About Our
Pastor . . .
The
Reverend Patricia A. T. Pittsnogle “Pastor Pat” was called to serve
Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in 2005. She served a two-year
term call and was officially called as permanent pastor on August
12, 2007. “Three years of ministry have simply zoomed by,” she
says. “That is a good sign of someone having fun in what they do!”
Pastor Pat, and
her husband, the Reverend Keith Pittsnogle “Pastor Keith,” who was
called to
Pine Street Lutheran Church in Danville, reside in Milton. They
are the parents of six children: John Tharp and his wife, Rachel,
parents of two of their grandsons, Dylan and Ian, who live in
Wardensville, West Virginia; Jeremy Tharp and his wife, Cecily,
parents of their third grandson, Finn, who live in Gore, Virginia;
Justin Tharp, who lives in Wardensville; and Ashley, Karen, and
Justin Pittsnogle, who live in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Pastor
Pat is originally from Winchester, Virginia, where her father, Bill
Triplett, still resides. Her in-laws, Almeda and Larry Pittsnogle,
reside at Menno Haven, a retirement community in Chambersburg,
Pennsylvania.
Both Pastor Pat
and Pastor Keith are graduates of the Lutheran Theological Seminary
in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in the years 2000 and 2003,
respectively. Pastor Pat brings a passion for rural ministry to her
call, having served in nine rural congregations before coming to
Milton. She also serves in the ministry of ELCMA (the Evangelical
Lutheran Coalition for Mission in Appalachia), as well as in a
leadership affinity group for rural ministry in the ELCA
(Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). Pastor Pat’s suburban
internship congregation in Eldersburg, Maryland, is where God also
planted a call to leading congregations in mission development and
servant leadership.
“Sometimes people
ask me how we can live so far from our children and grandchildren
and still enjoy what we do. Yes, we do get a little homesick
sometimes, but never enough to be able to ignore God’s call here.
The power of God’s Holy Spirit continues to open ways to be with our
family as well as empower us to serve and be served by wonderful
people and faith-filled communities. Besides, with email, cell
phones, interstate highways, and cornfields just minutes away, we
can be serving God here and being with our family and home just
about all the time!”
“God is doing
wonderful things in Milton. Christ Church is blessed with faith and
sharing that allows us to reach out in ways that touch people where
they need God the most. It is a blessing to introduce myself to
folks as the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church. And God keeps
blessing us! Praise the Lord!”
